Breaking through $50K with LOVE

Friday was a very, VERY sweet day for the Spread Love 2017 campaign. I wrote and mailed a check for a $5,000 donation to the Wisconsin Alliance of Women's Health pushing the total donation figure since Spread Love 2017's first signs sold to $52,060. This is an amount I am sure I could not have fathomed when I placed the order for 200 signs on January 6th. It is incredible to think back on the past 10 months and recall all the amazing individuals who have contributed to make that number a reality. Some were old friends and many others I met because of the campaign and I am now honored to call them friends.

When I created the Spread Love design. I was motivated to stand up for the people and things I cared about most. I did not know where the effort of trying to sell 200 signs would lead, I just hoped and believed I could find 199 people who felt like I did. Getting the sign to so many has been wonderful, but what has driven me most (and continues to drive me) is the ability of the Spread Love message to create new conversations and connections with people in my community of Seattle and around the world.

Today, as I share this great news of a benchmark hit, I wanted to also share a bit of work from my past. In the spring of 2014, I started a blog titled "Human Connectivity Conservationist". I used the blog as a place to share thoughts rolling around in my head. Because of my loath of writing, all the posts were quick mental downloads that I would not edit and have never returned to...but I do believe the thoughts were and remain relevant so I share the link and am hopeful I will revive my writings soon.

In my heart, I truly believe we are stronger together but we must work every day to let down our own walls, see the people around us, be brave to connect with people who are not like ourselves, have patience to listen, openness to learn and courage to get outside our comfort zones, share our vulnerabilities and try new things. Beauty, love and growth lives in these spaces!!
